Day-3 of the 5th National Pharmacovigilance Week was marked by a Refresher Training on Causality Assessment, organized by the ADR Monitoring Centre and the Department of Pharmacy Practice, N.E.T Pharmacy College.
The program began with a refresh seminar covering the fundamentals of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR), Pharmacovigilance, and Causality Assessment. This was followed by a highly interactive hands-on training session, where students practiced filling ADR reporting forms and applying the Naranjo Scale using live clinical scenario cases. The activity helped participants gain real-time exposure and confidence in causality assessment, ensuring practical skill development.
The session was attended by Pharm D and D. Pharm students along with Dr. Syed Mohammed and Dr. Naga Deepti, Lecturers, Department of Pharmacy Practice. Students expressed great enthusiasm and satisfaction, noting that the training enhanced both their knowledge and clinical application skills.
After the academic session, the Pharm D interns and final-year students took their learning beyond the classroom through a community ADR awareness and reporting drive in different areas of Raichur city. They educated the public about the importance of ADR reporting and encouraged self-reporting practices. The initiative received a positive response from the community, highlighting the impact of student-driven pharmacovigilance outreach.
Overall, Day-3 was a successful blend of academic learning, practical training, and community engagement, reinforcing the importance of causality assessment and ADR reporting in safeguarding patient safety.
