N.E.T. Pharmacy College Inaugurates Six-Day AI Workshop on Pharma Careers | 1 June 2026
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, N.E.T Pharmacy College, Raichur, inaugurated a Six-Day Immersive Workshop on “Artificial Intelligence in Pharma Career” on 1st June 2026 at the Central Library AV Hall.
The workshop was organized with the objective of creating awareness among students regarding the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Healthcare, Research, and Industry, while preparing learners for future career opportunities in AI-enabled pharmaceutical sectors.
The inaugural function commenced with the presence of distinguished dignitaries including Dr. V. Rama Mohan Gupta, Director – Academic Development & Research, NET, Raichur; Prof. C. Suresh Babu, Director Administration, NET, Raichur; and Dr. H. Doddayya, Principal, N.E.T Pharmacy College, Raichur.
The workshop features Dr. Uma Desu, Chief AI Officer – GenAI Pioneer, Hyderabad, as the resource person. With more than 28 years of industry expertise, he will guide participants through practical and industry-oriented applications of Artificial Intelligence in pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors.
Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Dr. V. Rama Mohan Gupta emphasized that the demand for AI-skilled pharmacy graduates is increasing globally. He highlighted the importance of learning Artificial Intelligence technologies and their applications in drug discovery, pharmaceutical manufacturing, drug analysis, pharmaceutical research, and clinical practice. He stated that pharmaceutical industries are increasingly adopting AI technologies and recruiting graduates equipped with AI competencies.
He further noted that traditional pharmaceutical job roles are rapidly evolving and encouraged students to combine pharmaceutical knowledge with Artificial Intelligence skills to remain relevant in future healthcare and pharmaceutical industries.
Presiding over the function, Dr. H. Doddayya, Principal, N.E.T Pharmacy College, emphasized that learning AI technologies has become essential alongside pharmaceutical education. He remarked that Artificial Intelligence itself will not replace employment opportunities; however, students who fail to understand AI technologies may face challenges in future career opportunities. He encouraged students to proactively learn emerging technologies and prepare themselves for industry transformation.
As part of the six-day workshop, participants will learn about the applications of Artificial Intelligence across major pharmaceutical and healthcare domains through structured sessions conducted by Dr. Uma Desu.
During the workshop, he will teach the following thematic modules:
- Day 1: AI in Drug Discovery
- Day 2: AI in Clinical Trials
- Day 3: AI in Pharmacovigilance
- Day 4: AI in Quality Control & Inspection
- Day 5: AI in Regulatory Affairs & Compliance
- Day 6: AI in Healthcare Systems & Digital Health
Through these sessions, students will gain exposure to emerging concepts such as AI Diagnostics, Data Intelligence, Predictive Analytics, Patient Care Technologies, Drug Development Systems, Digital Healthcare, and Regulatory Applications.
Dr. Uma Desu will provide hands-on, beginner-friendly, industry-aligned, and no-code learning experiences, enabling students from pharmacy backgrounds to understand AI applications without requiring prior programming knowledge. He will also explain how pharmaceutical and healthcare industries across India, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East are increasingly integrating Artificial Intelligence technologies into their systems.
The workshop is being coordinated by Dr. Sunil B. Kumar, Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, with the objective of preparing students for future-ready careers in pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.
The program proceedings included a welcome address by Ms. Shwetha, resource person introduction by Mohammed Toufiq, anchoring by Maria Manush and Praveen Kumar, and vote of thanks by Ms. Spoorthi.
The workshop received an enthusiastic response from students and participants, marking a promising beginning toward understanding the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping the future of pharmaceutical and healthcare careers.
