Guest Talk on “Patient Assessment – An Interdisciplinary Approach in Medication Therapy Management (MTM)” at N.E.T. Pharmacy College
The Department of Pharmacy Practice, N.E.T. Pharmacy College, Raichur, organized a Guest Talk on “Patient Assessment – An Interdisciplinary Approach in Medication Therapy Management (MTM)” on 20th May 2026 at 11:30 AM in Lecture Hall-3 (LH-3). The session aimed to enhance students’ understanding of patient assessment, medication therapy management, medication safety, and the expanding role of clinical pharmacists in healthcare practice.
The guest lecture was delivered by Dr. Balakeshwa Ramaiah, Professor & Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Karnataka College of Pharmacy, Bengaluru. The program commenced with a warm welcome and introduction of the gathering. Faculty members and students enthusiastically participated in the event.
During the session, the resource person highlighted the significance of patient assessment in clinical pharmacy practice and emphasized the interdisciplinary approach followed in Medication Therapy Management (MTM). He elaborated on the responsibilities of clinical pharmacists in identifying, preventing, and managing medication-related problems to improve patient care outcomes.
The lecture covered important topics including medication errors, drug interactions, patient safety measures, Look-Alike Sound-Alike (LASA) medications, safe medication administration practices, proper medication storage, and effective patient counseling techniques. The speaker also discussed various real-time clinical scenarios and patient case reviews, enabling students to understand the practical application of pharmaceutical care services.
The session was highly interactive and informative, providing valuable insights to Pharm D students and interns regarding the practical role of clinical pharmacists in healthcare settings. Students actively engaged in discussions and gained a deeper understanding of medication safety and patient-centered care.
