World Hypertension Day 2026 Awareness Programme
The Department of Pharmacy Practice, N.E.T. Pharmacy College, Raichur, organized an awareness programme on the occasion of World Hypertension Day 2026 under the theme “Controlling Hypertension Together: Check Your Blood Pressure Regularly, Defeat the Silent Killer.” The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the risk factors, prevention, lifestyle modifications, and effective management of hypertension.
The event was attended by Mr. Binu K.M., Head of the Department of Pharmacy Practice, and Mr. Manjunath C.J., Associate Professor, Department of Pharmacology, who addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of hypertension awareness, early detection, and regular blood pressure monitoring among healthcare professionals and the general public. Faculty members Dr. Syed Mohammed, Dr. Naga Deepthi, Dr. Rashmi A, Dr. Joel Santhosh, and Dr. Divyashree were also present on the occasion.
The educational session was delivered by Dr. Jeeva George, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice, Karnataka College of Pharmacy, who provided an informative presentation on hypertension, non-pharmacological management strategies, and the crucial role of pharmacists in patient education and long-term disease management.
During the session, the resource person highlighted key lifestyle modifications for preventing and controlling hypertension, including maintaining a balanced diet, reducing salt intake, engaging in regular physical activity, managing stress effectively, avoiding smoking, adhering to prescribed medications, and monitoring blood pressure regularly. The session also emphasized the significant role of pharmacists in patient counseling, promoting medication adherence, and improving overall healthcare outcomes.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from Pharm D interns, Pharm D students, and D.Pharm students, who actively engaged in the interactive discussion and gained valuable insights into hypertension prevention, treatment adherence, and public health awareness.
The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, during which participants clarified their doubts regarding hypertension management and preventive strategies. The Department of Pharmacy Practice expressed its sincere gratitude to the management, Principal, resource person, faculty members, and students for their support and active participation in making the programme informative and successful.
