Hospital Pharmacy Postings for D. Pharm Students
N.E.T Pharmacy College, Raichur
As part of their academic curriculum, the second-year D. Pharm students of N.E.T Pharmacy College, Raichur, successfully completed their Hospital Pharmacy Postings from 25th August to 16th September 2025 at Navodaya Pharmacy, Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Raichur, under the guidance of Dr. Syed Mohammed, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy Practice.
The postings were aimed at providing real-world exposure to the functioning of a hospital pharmacy and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
During the training, students gained hands-on experience in:

Prescription handling, reading, assessment, and interpretation

Identification of possible errors and ensuring accuracy in dispensing

Inventory management and control, with focus on cold-chain medicines, surgical supplies, and essential medical stock

Drug interaction identification and interpretation in live prescriptions

Patient counseling for chronic conditions such as diabetes mellitus and hypertension, enhancing their communication and empathy skills
Additionally, students observed and practiced:

Dispensing of emergency medicines

Controlled drugs register maintenance and patient record documentation

Demonstration and patient counseling on medical devices such as inhalers, glucometers, and insulin pens
This comprehensive exposure emphasized the critical role of pharmacists in ensuring medication safety, effective dispensing, and patient adherence to therapy.
The hospital pharmacy postings proved to be an invaluable learning experience, strengthening students’ technical competencies, clinical knowledge, and professional responsibility, preparing them to contribute meaningfully as future healthcare professionals.
